This shift aims to position Bordeaux within the casual landscape of rooftop gatherings and informal lunches, moving away from the restrictive etiquette often associated with the region. The brand is also leaning into cocktail culture with the 'Bordeaux Mule,' a mix of red wine, ginger ale, lime, and mint.
Beyond flavor, the initiative targets the growing consumer demand for mindful drinking. At approximately 7% ABV, the wine-based cocktail contains significantly less sugar than standard mixed drinks, clocking in at roughly 150 calories per serving. This strategic repositioning is spearheaded by the fourth generation of the Baron Philippe de Rothschild family—Mathilde, Nathan, and Pierre Sereys de Rothschild—who have each developed a signature wine for the collection. By ensuring the entire line is certified organic and vegan, the family intends to align the historic label with modern values of sustainability and ease, ensuring the brand remains relevant to a younger, more spontaneous audience.
