JOKR Achieves Profitability Through AI-Driven Logistics

Five years after its founding, quick commerce firm JOKR has reached EBITDA break-even status while approaching R$1 billion in annualized revenue. The platform, which operates under the Daki brand in Brazil, attributes its turnaround to a strategic pivot away from hyper-growth toward automation and vertical integration of its supply chain.

The company’s performance highlights a shift in the rapid grocery delivery sector, which previously faced skepticism regarding its long-term viability. By deploying more than 50 AI agents to automate 95% of procurement decisions, JOKR has secured 45% gross margins and a 99% on-time delivery rate. This operational discipline allows the firm to maintain end-to-end control over inventory, fulfillment, and delivery, effectively moving past the 'growth at all costs' model that defined the industry’s early years.

Founded in 2021 by veterans of foodpanda and Delivery Hero, the venture has raised over $500 million from backers including Balderton Capital and Tiger Global. Following a restructure focused on its Brazilian operations, the company recently secured a minority investment from Latin American delivery giant iFood. Chairman Ralf Wenzel noted that the sector is not inherently broken, but rather required a fundamental change in how businesses serve consumer demand profitably through sustainable economics and advanced technical control.
