Cage compared his shift toward digital platforms to the fashion world’s reaction when designer Halston partnered with JCPenney, a move once mocked by elites before becoming the industry standard. He noted that the media previously treated his straight-to-streaming projects with disdain, but the landscape has since shifted entirely. For Cage, the transition was never about prestige, but rather about ensuring his work remained accessible to audiences who value the ability to revisit a film multiple times to uncover new details.

His approach to television is equally pragmatic. While filming Spider-Noir, he described the experience as demanding, noting that a single season of a show requires the same output as producing four feature films consecutively. This intensity continues with his upcoming portrayal of John Madden in David O. Russell’s biopic, which will premiere on Amazon Prime Video in November 2026. Cage admitted that capturing the football icon’s distinct vocal cadence presented a significant challenge, requiring him to blend the coach's signature sound with his own interpretation. Despite the rigorous pace, the actor remains committed to the medium, confident that streaming is the primary vehicle for keeping actors employed and their work evergreen.
