Hyundai Commits $500,000 to Expand Pediatric Cancer Research in California

Hyundai Motor America and Hyundai Hope on Wheels have pledged $500,000 to Rady Children’s Health Orange County, marking a fresh infusion of capital into pediatric cancer research. The investment coincides with the unveiling of the Hyundai Cancer Institute’s new signage inside the health system’s nine-story outpatient tower in Orange, California.

The funding package includes a $100,000 Impact Grant and a $300,000 Young Investigator Grant from Hyundai Hope on Wheels, alongside a $100,000 corporate donation from Hyundai Motor America. These resources are earmarked to accelerate clinical breakthroughs and support the hospital's most urgent care requirements. The move deepens a partnership that has seen the automaker contribute over $13.4 million to the facility since 2011.

During the announcement, participants held the signature Handprint Ceremony, where children currently battling cancer and survivors pressed their painted hands onto a vehicle to symbolize collective resilience. Kim Milstien, regional president of Rady Children’s Health Orange County, emphasized that the collaboration directly bolsters both research efforts and long-term survivorship programs. With this latest commitment, the 28-year-old Hyundai Hope on Wheels nonprofit continues its national grant cycle, aiming to sustain its long-term goal of funding innovative treatments for childhood cancer.
