Compugen Unveils MAIA-Ovarian Trial Design at ESMO Congress

At the ESMO Gynaecological Cancers Congress in Copenhagen, Compugen presented a trial-in-progress poster for the MAIA-ovarian study, an adaptive platform trial testing the anti-PVRIG antibody COM701 as a maintenance therapy for patients suffering from relapsed platinum-sensitive ovarian cancer.

The clinical research, presented by Dr. Oladapo Yeku of Massachusetts General Hospital, focuses on a significant gap in current oncology care. According to Eran Ophir, President and CEO of Compugen, the company sees a strong biological rationale for this intervention because there is currently no established standard of care for the maintenance setting in this specific patient population. COM701, identified through the company's AI-powered computational discovery platform, has previously demonstrated consistent responses in patients with platinum-resistant ovarian cancer.

The MAIA-ovarian trial, designated as NCT06888921, aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the antibody as a primary maintenance agent. Researchers expect to release initial data from the study by the first quarter of 2027. This presentation in Copenhagen highlights the ongoing shift toward precision immunotherapies in gynecological oncology, leveraging the high expression of the PVRIG pathway in ovarian tumors.
