The expansion arrives as federal data highlights a persistent crisis: one person dies every 44 minutes in an alcohol-related crash, with young drivers accounting for nearly 30% of these incidents. Keepr Drive functions by integrating a breathalyzer directly with a car’s ignition system. If the driver’s breath alcohol concentration exceeds a pre-set threshold, the vehicle remains disabled. All testing data is transmitted in real-time to a linked mobile application, allowing parents or guardians to monitor results remotely.
Mindr CEO Kathy Boden Holland emphasized that technological intervention is necessary to support safer habits among teens, noting that traditional enforcement alone is insufficient. The company has spent 37 years in the substance detection sector and developed this platform to be accessible for shared family vehicles. While the system is now available through certified installation centers across these three states, the company maintains a waiting list for consumers in other regions through its online portal.
