HPQ Silicon Eyes North American Drone Market with French Propulsion Tech

HPQ Silicon has signed a letter of intent with French firms LN Innov' and Novacium SAS to evaluate the creation of a Canadian-based electric propulsion platform. The initiative aims to integrate high-performance drone motors with silicon-enhanced battery technology to serve North American defense and industrial sectors.

The partnership, unveiled during the Eurosatory exhibition in Paris, seeks to replicate a successful European industrial model for the North American market. Over the next 190 days, the companies will assess the feasibility of manufacturing integrated propulsion systems, including supply-chain requirements and certification pathways. HPQ, which holds a 36.8% equity interest in Novacium, intends to market the resulting battery solutions under its ENDURA+ brand.

LN Innov' currently produces high-performance propulsion systems for surveillance and payload-delivery drones, with plans to scale manufacturing to 20,000 motors per month by late 2026. Simultaneously, Novacium is advancing silicon-enhanced battery configurations—boasting energy densities near 205 Wh/kg—to meet the specific operational demands of autonomous platforms. While the agreement is non-binding and carries no immediate financial commitments, it signals a strategic move to localize supply chains for critical drone technologies currently dominated by Asian markets.
