Carl Mazzanti Outlines AI-Driven Defense Strategies in Albany

At the 2026 New York State Cybersecurity Conference, eMazzanti Technologies President Carl Mazzanti warned that the rapid adoption of AI by nation-state actors has rendered manual security protocols obsolete, urging organizations to pivot toward automated, high-speed defensive measures to safeguard sensitive operations against sophisticated social engineering and supply chain breaches.

Mazzanti argued that modern cybersecurity represents a critical leadership challenge rather than a mere technical hurdle. During his presentation, he detailed how attackers leverage AI to refine phishing, vishing, and deepfake tactics, often targeting third-party vendors to bypass primary defenses. To counter these threats, he advocated for deploying AI-backed security agents capable of responding to incidents without human latency.

Highlighting recent vulnerabilities, the eMazzanti president pointed to the May 2026 theft of $200,000 in public funds in Johnston County, Oklahoma, and a significant data breach involving 4,000 Ericsson customers. These incidents underscore the peril of supply chain weaknesses and the limitations of default cloud backup policies. Mazzanti emphasized that small- and medium-sized businesses can now access enterprise-grade automation through managed services, including rigorous multi-factor authentication, geo-blocking, and continuous penetration testing to remain compliant with the New York SHIELD Act and other regulatory frameworks.
