Sugar House Distillery Takes Canned Cocktails into Idaho Market

Salt Lake City’s Sugar House Distillery is crossing state lines, bringing its grain-to-glass canned cocktails to Idaho retailers. The expansion, facilitated by a partnership with Hayden Beverage Company, puts the Utah-based brand's 10% ABV drinks on shelves at 28 Albertsons locations and other outlets across the state.

Founded in 2013 by James Fowler, the distillery built its reputation on a strict grain-to-glass production model, sourcing local ingredients to control every step from milling to bottling. Since debuting its ready-to-drink line in 2023, the brand has become a top performer in Utah state liquor stores, consistently rivaling national competitors. Fowler credits this success to a focus on natural flavors and balanced recipes, which he believes offer a premium alternative to standard hard seltzers.

The current Idaho rollout features Raspberry Lemonade, White Peach, and Bright Citrus vodka cocktails, with Pineapple Coconut and Whiskey Sour varieties expected to follow shortly. Each 12-ounce slim can contains two servings, hitting a 10% alcohol-by-volume threshold. With Hayden Beverage Company managing logistics, the distillery aims to use this Idaho launch as a springboard for further growth across the Western United States.
