Director Courtney LeMarco, known for his work on the Emmy-nominated series Hoarders, cast the 19-year-old athlete for her distinct physical command and mental precision. In the film, Tsujii portrays Sachiko, a young woman whose protective instincts pull her into a conflict with powerful, systemic forces. LeMarco noted that Tsujii’s ability to project focus and controlled silence mirrors the character’s internal arc, making her a natural fit for the thriller’s atmosphere of dread.
Rain serves as the anchor for a broader six-project cinematic universe produced entirely in Japan with local crews. The narrative explores how marginalized individuals challenge the established corporate and political hierarchy. With pre-production currently underway, the project aims to leverage Tsujii’s background in combat sports to anchor the film's intense, high-stakes choreography and emotional stakes.
