Michaels Scales In-Store Printing and Framing Across North America

With the goal of turning digital files into physical displays in minutes, Michaels is rolling out expanded printing and custom framing capabilities to its entire North American retail footprint. The move positions the craft chain as a high-speed alternative to traditional photo labs and specialty art studios.

The expansion introduces larger-format fine art printing, now supporting sizes up to 16x20 inches on archival paper, with prices starting at $4. This service operates alongside the retailer’s existing 10-Minute Custom Framing, a $29 offering that allows customers to pair uploaded photos with professional frames during a single store visit. By integrating these services, the company aims to capture the market for last-minute gifts and personalized home decor that requires both professional quality and immediate availability.

To further customize the experience, Michaels has debuted over 15 mat templates tailored for events like graduations and anniversaries. Some of these templates feature interactive designs that allow for coloring, specifically targeting the gift-giving segment. Nicholas Bertram, President and COO at Michaels, noted that the company intends to bridge the gap between digital inspiration and finished gallery-quality art. With over 1,300 locations now equipped for these services, the initiative represents a significant push to consolidate the creative supply chain under one roof.
