IntelliGenome and CTR Scientific Partner to Bring CRISPR-TB to Mexico

The CRISPR-TB assay identifies Mycobacterium tuberculosis cell-free DNA, providing a non-sputum alternative for patients who cannot provide traditional samples. By leveraging CTR Scientific’s established laboratory network, IntelliGenome intends to accelerate clinical evidence gathering and regulatory adoption within the Mexican healthcare system. This move builds upon recent consultations with local public health stakeholders and clinicians focused on modernizing molecular diagnostics.

Kurt Wehrle, Vice President of Partnerships at IntelliGenome, emphasized that Mexico remains a priority for the company's international expansion. Alan R. Criollo Ródiz, Clinical Diagnostics Manager at CTR Scientific, noted that the test is designed to complement existing methods rather than replace them, addressing specific vulnerabilities in current screening protocols. The diagnostic tool already holds CE-IVDD certification and is currently being deployed in various markets across Latin America.
