Mitsubishi Fuso Shifts to Clarivate’s IPfolio for Patent Management

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation has officially adopted Clarivate’s IPfolio to overhaul its intellectual property management. By consolidating patents and trademarks into a single cloud-based interface, the manufacturer aims to replace manual verification processes with automated data enrichment and real-time portfolio visibility across its engineering divisions.

The transition integrates Derwent patent data directly into the company’s workflow, allowing the IP team to verify and update information automatically. According to Kenichi Matsuura, an expert in Advanced Engineering at Mitsubishi Fuso, the cloud platform is a critical component of the firm's broader digital transformation. The system uses IP Sync to align internal records with external annuity and renewal providers, effectively centralizing functions that were previously fragmented.

Clarivate will provide local support from its Japan-based teams to oversee the phased deployment. Simon Webster, President of Intellectual Property at Clarivate, noted that the platform is designed to reduce operational complexity, ensuring that executive decisions are backed by validated data. The dashboard-driven reporting tools are expected to provide stakeholders with immediate clarity on the status of assets, marking a significant departure from the company's legacy administrative methods.
