When Joseph, a military veteran facing a prostate cancer diagnosis, walked into the Somerset facility for his final session, he became the 8,000th patient treated at ProCure Proton Therapy Center. The milestone highlights a decade of precision radiation work in the New Jersey tri-state region.

Since its opening in 2012, the center has focused on proton therapy, a method designed to target tumors while sparing surrounding healthy tissue. For Joseph, the treatment was defined as much by the technical precision as by the personalized environment. He noted that the care team remembered specific details from his visits, including his personal interests, which helped build a rapport that felt far removed from the sterile nature of many clinical settings.

Tom Wang, president of ProCure, credited the center’s longevity and reach to a combination of skilled medical staff and institutional partnerships. Medical Director Dr. Brian Chon emphasized that the 8,000-patient figure serves as a benchmark for the facility’s commitment to non-surgical intervention. The center currently manages a broad spectrum of cases, ranging from breast and lung cancers to complex pediatric treatments, continuing to serve patients from both the local area and international locations.
