Nicole Polizzi on Her Cancer Journey and Coping Through Luxury

After receiving a diagnosis of stage one cervical cancer, television personality Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi turned to an unconventional remedy for her initial distress: a high-end shopping spree. The Jersey Shore star is now preparing for a hysterectomy while advocating for the critical importance of consistent medical screenings.

Following a biopsy that confirmed her diagnosis, Polizzi spent three days in a state of shock, even going so far as to plan her own funeral. Once the initial panic subsided, she decided to reclaim her agency by heading to Short Hills, where she purchased designer goods from Louis Vuitton and Gucci. She credits this impulsive retail therapy with helping her regain a sense of control during a terrifying period of uncertainty.

Polizzi revealed that her condition, which involved pre-cancerous cell growth, had been developing for several years. She now deeply regrets ignoring her physician’s repeated follow-up reminders. A recent PET scan indicated that the cancer has not spread, providing a positive outlook as she schedules her upcoming surgery for the summer, a time when her professional travel commitments are significantly reduced.

Throughout the process, Polizzi has relied on a support system that includes her husband, Jionni LaValle, her father—a cancer survivor himself—and her close friend and podcast partner, Joey Camasta. When it came time to address the situation with her three children, Lorenzo, Giovanna, and Angelo, she opted for a calm, simplified explanation. While the conversation was difficult, the children have remained supportive, with her eldest son even managing to inject a moment of levity into the tense situation.
