London’s ExCeL transformed into a hub of digital transformation last week as the Retail Technology Show returned, hosting over 450 innovators. The event drew senior leadership from across the industry to evaluate emerging tools in AI, logistics, and customer engagement, cementing its position as a vital calendar date for retail investment.

The exhibition floor featured a dense array of solutions, ranging from sophisticated supply chain logistics to personalized e-commerce interfaces. Touker Suleyman, a speaker at the event, characterized the sheer volume of new technology on display as overwhelming, urging retailers to prioritize strategic investment over mere observation. This sentiment was echoed by Iain Robertson, Chief Operating & Innovation Officer at Fortnum & Mason, who identified the show as a critical venue for distinguishing genuine utility from market hype.

Beyond the hardware and software on display, the conference program provided a platform for 125 retail luminaries. Industry leaders, including M&S Chair Archie Norman and TALA Founder Grace Beverley, dissected the trends currently reshaping the sector. Despite external logistical challenges such as a local Tube strike, organizers reported high levels of C-suite attendance. Matt Bradley, the event's founder, noted that these personal connections and long-term collaborations remain the primary engine of the show's sustained growth. The event is scheduled to return to ExCeL on April 21–22, 2027.
