The WFP confirmed on Monday that it requires $450 million over the next six months to sustain operations. Beyond the total loss of aid for many, families remaining in the program will see their rations halved. The agency has already slashed its output of hot meals in Gaza by 40% and reduced cash assistance for 75,000 households.
Shaun Hughes, the WFP country director for Palestine, described the current progress as fragile and warned that the situation remains brutal. Families displaced by the ongoing conflict expressed desperation, noting that aid was already insufficient before these latest reductions. As the agency faces a budget that has dropped to less than half of previous levels, officials emphasized that the current reliance on emergency handouts is neither affordable nor sustainable for those living in the territories.
