Police spokesperson Sheila Miller confirmed that the suspect first fired into a vehicle before entering the school grounds. While official counts remain fluid, reports from CNN and the Associated Press indicate that at least four to five people have died, including three children and one adult. At least two additional victims were transported to St. Charles Bend medical facility for emergency treatment.
Federal agents have joined local law enforcement at the scene as the community gathers at Journey Church to await information on their loved ones. Bend-La Pine Schools Superintendent Steven Cook described the event as a senseless tragedy, while Oregon lawmakers, including Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden, expressed shock and renewed calls for legislative action to address gun violence in schools.
