The Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC) confirmed that passenger volume remained resilient, totaling 25.7 million trips during September. This represents a 2% increase year-over-year, despite broader economic headwinds. Across the third quarter, total passenger trips reached 77.4 million, a 3.5% rise over the 2025 period.
Financial data reveals that the average ticket price rose to $669, a 2% increase from the previous year. Costs for economy class tickets saw a more pronounced rise of 21% to reach $608, while premium class tickets averaged $1,562. Steve Solomon, ARC’s Chief Commercial Officer, attributed the steady volume to persistent traveler demand that has navigated through inflationary pressures and geopolitical uncertainty.
Technological shifts continue to reshape booking habits, with New Distribution Capability (NDC) transactions accounting for 21.2% of all processed sales in September. This figure reflects a 7% increase in adoption over the previous year, with 1,264 travel agencies now reporting such transactions through the ARC platform.
