The new unit is engineered to serve as a bridge for businesses looking to modernize their infrastructure while mitigating the cost volatility associated with traditional refrigerants. By utilizing natural CO2, which carries a global warming potential of one, the system positions operators to meet environmental compliance standards more effectively. Its design targets space-constrained environments, including pharmacies and walk-in coolers, where traditional large-scale refrigeration systems often prove impractical.
Performance in high-temperature environments remains a central focus of the hardware. The unit integrates a variable-speed compressor and an energy-efficient fan to maintain stable cooling in ambient temperatures exceeding 100°F. Senthilkumar K Shanmugam, Senior Product Manager at Hillphoenix, noted that the system is intended to simplify deployment and maintenance, featuring accessible service points and removable panels for field diagnostics. Available in both 208V and 460V configurations, the hardware is designed to integrate into existing electrical infrastructure to support phased store upgrades rather than complete system replacements.
