A registered Patent Agent and Principal Patent Architect at NVIDIA, Lyle has spent decades bridging the gap between complex engineering research and legal protection. Beyond her personal invention record—which includes 283 pending patents—she is credited with founding NVIDIA’s Technical Patent Architect Practice. Her work focuses on democratizing the innovation ecosystem by leading initiatives in AI pathways and diversity, ensuring that intellectual property serves as a tool for broader economic participation rather than just corporate protection.
Lyle’s career path includes significant tenures at IBM and USAA, punctuated by her historic milestone as the first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the NYU Tandon School of Engineering. Elaine Spector, a board member at IPOEF, noted that Lyle’s legacy is defined by her philosophy of mentorship, where she treats professional success as a relay, consistently pulling new talent into the field as she advances. The foundation will formally present the award during its annual celebration on December 15, 2026, in Washington, D.C.
