The update, which went live October 14, aims to reduce the manual labor typically required during legal review workflows. Milyli CEO Steve Ankenbrandt noted that the integration of Foundry Tools allows legal teams to secure sensitive data with higher consistency. Beyond identifying standard PII—such as social security numbers, email addresses, and phone numbers—the system provides automated recommendations for redaction, intended to accelerate large-scale document processing.
Blackout distinguishes itself by offering native redaction for Microsoft Excel, a feature often absent in competing platforms that require file conversion before data protection can be applied. The tool is designed to support the rigorous audit requirements of legal, regulatory, and privacy-focused teams, ensuring that sensitive information is properly handled before external sharing. Current customers can access the AI-powered features immediately, marking a shift toward more proactive risk management in document discovery and governance.
