The facility, which reached completion in September 2026 after eighteen months of conversion work, serves as a primary source for Bracco’s Ceriano Laghetto site. Under a long-term Biomethane Purchase Agreement, the company will secure renewable gas attributes covering approximately 35% of the thermal power plant's natural gas consumption. By utilizing livestock manure and energy crops, the plant also produces digestate for local agricultural use, closing the loop on regional waste streams.
Marco Lupi, Head of Global Technical Operations at Bracco, noted that the project transitions sustainability goals into immediate industrial action. The collaboration combines Bracco’s strategic roadmap with the technical and financial infrastructure provided by Genera New Energy, which oversaw the site's development and will manage its long-term performance. This initiative follows Bracco’s recent recognition by EcoVadis, where the company secured a Platinum Medal for its environmental and operational standards.
