The Prix Galien accolade, often described as the Nobel Prize of biopharmaceutical research, honors scientific innovations that address critical unmet medical needs. Paradigm Therapeutics will join other industry leaders at the 2026 ceremony, scheduled for October 29 at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
Robert Ryan, CEO of Paradigm Therapeutics, noted that the nomination reflects the company’s progress in addressing the debilitating effects of Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). The condition, a rare genetic disorder, causes fragile skin that blisters and tears from minimal friction. Currently, few treatment options exist for patients, who often suffer from chronic, painful, and potentially disfiguring wounds throughout their lives.
Clinical trials for SD-101 involved 217 patients across the three major EB subtypes: Simplex, Dystrophic, and Junctional. The therapy, which has received FDA Breakthrough Therapy and Rare Pediatric Disease designations, was administered as a daily topical cream to participants as young as 28 days old. Data from these studies suggest the treatment provides broad benefits for wound healing while maintaining a favorable safety profile. The company is now navigating the path toward regulatory registration and exploring global partnerships to ensure widespread patient access.
