The XRAY9-CUAS utilizes a proprietary SWIR laser rangefinder alongside onboard slew-rate sensors to determine a drone's distance and trajectory instantly. By generating a custom dynamic reticle, the device provides soldiers with immediate firing solutions. Integration with CMOS and thermal sensors allows the fire control system to operate effectively during day and night missions. The unit is designed for portability, measuring 5.25 by 2.5 by 3.3 inches and weighing 24 ounces, with a battery life supporting up to 50 hours of continuous use. According to Andy York, President of SIG SAUER Electro-Optics, the company fast-tracked the development of this optic to address the urgent demand for reliable drone defense on the modern battlefield. The system can track and engage targets at distances of up to 300 yards, depending on the size of the aircraft, providing a lightweight, high-performance solution for military units operating in contested environments.
SIG SAUER Launches XRAY9-CUAS for Battlefield Drone Defense
At the Association of the United States Army trade show, SIG SAUER unveiled the XRAY9-CUAS, a compact electro-optic designed to neutralize unmanned aerial threats. The system integrates disturbed reticle technology with remote weapon station capabilities, allowing soldiers to engage drones by calculating real-time flight data and speed to ensure precision targeting.
