The initiative kicked off during National School Lunch Week at Lincoln County High School in West Virginia, where officials unveiled new grab-and-go kiosks and mobile meal carts. These tools are designed to remove the stigma often associated with school meals by bringing food directly into hallways and classrooms. Beyond nutrition, each participating school receives a Root4All kit—a collection of resources and equipment intended to encourage daily movement and build confidence among students.
Data from the project already shows early promise. At Vinson Middle School, also in West Virginia, breakfast participation climbed 12% following the installation of new equipment, while an Ohio school doubled its reach by offering more flexible dining options. With one in five children in the U.S. facing food insecurity and many schools struggling with aging cafeteria infrastructure, the program focuses on practical, scalable solutions to ensure students remain nourished throughout the academic day.
