WardsAuto evaluated 26 distinct powertrains this year, measuring contenders against benchmarks for torque, refinement, and innovation. Robin Warner, a WardsAuto judge and program manager, noted that the vehicle defies its modest appearance, describing it as a sleeper that accelerates with the force of a muscle car. The assessment confirmed that the Trailseeker’s real-world range remains consistent with manufacturer estimates, even during demanding interstate travel.
Technically, the SUV draws its performance from dual electric motors delivering 375 horsepower, supported by a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery. The vehicle includes a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, providing entry to a network of 25,000 charging stations. Subaru engineered the system to handle extreme cold, utilizing battery preconditioning to maintain rapid charging speeds even in temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit. Starting at $39,995, the Trailseeker also features 8.5 inches of ground clearance and the brand's signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.
