DigiKey brings robotics and AI demos to Maker Faire Rome 2026

Between October 23 and 25, the global electronic component distributor DigiKey will anchor booth N.01 at Maker Faire Rome. As a gold partner for the event's fourteenth edition, the company plans to showcase a series of hardware projects ranging from modular agricultural kits to edge AI compute boards.

Kevin Walseth, senior manager of technical marketing at DigiKey, stated that the company’s presence aims to bridge the gap between supplier technology and real-world application for students, engineers, and hobbyists. The booth will feature interactive demonstrations, including Sparkfun’s XRP robotics platform and a Home Assistant-controlled robot. Attendees can also interact with DFRobot’s AI-powered HUSKYLENS 2 vision sensor and test their skills on a robot football field featuring Kitronik’s Mai-Z units.

Additional displays highlight the latest in development hardware, such as Arduino’s VENTUNO Q edge AI computer and the Synaptics Coralboard. These demonstrations reflect the evolving focus on accessible automation and robotics. Since its inception, Maker Faire Rome has hosted over 8,000 projects, serving as a hub for connecting academic research with commercial innovation. DigiKey intends to use the three-day event to further its outreach through its Maker.io platform, providing resources for the community beyond the showroom floor.
