The partnership aims to leverage geothermal heat to simultaneously generate baseload power and refine battery-grade lithium. By stacking these production streams, the companies intend to optimize resource utilization while creating a dual-market revenue model. The development is scheduled to roll out in two distinct phases, allowing for progressive capital deployment as the site scales toward its full nameplate capacity.
Sune Mathiesen, Chairman of Lithium Harvest, noted that the facility is positioned to meet surging demand from data centers and the electric vehicle sector. Beyond market output, the project carries significant environmental ambitions. Projections suggest that operating at full capacity could displace up to 933,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year, depending on final engineering specifications and grid displacement factors. Moving forward, the consortium must clear significant hurdles, including resource validation, complex permitting, and the finalization of a comprehensive construction financing package.
