Beta Bionics Faces Class Action Over Alleged iLet Safety Failures

A 37% plunge in Beta Bionics shares has triggered a securities fraud class action, with investors alleging the company concealed widespread safety issues regarding its iLet insulin delivery system. The lawsuit, filed in California, claims the firm misled the market about the device's efficacy while ignoring thousands of user complaints.

The legal action, titled Holtzman v. Beta Bionics, Inc., centers on allegations that the company violated federal securities laws by touting the iLet system as a fully autonomous, superior medical solution. Plaintiffs contend that despite public claims of clinical success, the company faced a June 2025 FDA Form 483 report detailing over 18,000 unreported complaints. These reports cited life-threatening hypoglycemia allegedly linked to the device’s aggressive insulin dosing algorithm, which the company reportedly failed to investigate.

The financial fallout hit its peak on January 9, 2026, when shares dropped 37% after the company disclosed that new patient starts had missed analyst estimates by nearly 10%. A second decline followed in February 2026 after the FDA publicly released a warning letter documenting the company’s failure to report device malfunctions. Investors seeking to serve as lead plaintiffs in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California must submit their requests by November 3, 2026.
