New Data Highlights Growing Gap Between Fertility Intentions and Reality

While 75% of American women identify motherhood as a primary life goal, a significant disconnect between ambition and outcomes persists. New research from Everleap Fertility reveals that 34% of women start their families later than intended, often resulting in smaller families than they originally envisioned.

The inaugural Fertility Barometer, presented by the North American reproductive health group, indicates that 83% of surveyed women are either already parents or actively desire children. However, the path to parenthood is increasingly obstructed by shifting life circumstances, such as the timing of finding a partner and personal maturity. These delays contribute to a measurable fertility gap, where women report having approximately one fewer child than their initial target.

Infertility remains a pervasive obstacle, affecting roughly 14.3 million women across the United States. While more than 72% of those facing these challenges consult a medical professional, only 17% proceed with IVF. According to Lynn Mason, CEO of Everleap Fertility, the hesitation to pursue clinical intervention is driven by a combination of emotional stress, financial concerns, and a lack of confidence in success rates. Bridging this divide requires more than just clinical availability; it demands greater transparency, personalized guidance, and accessible information to help patients navigate complex reproductive options with clarity.
