The sponsorship integrates Avive’s compact, 2.1-pound defibrillators into the event’s safety infrastructure. Medical volunteers will carry the devices throughout the route, providing immediate access to technology that features real-time CPR guidance and intuitive touchscreens. These units are designed for use by both trained responders and laypeople, with universal electrode pads that switch between adult and pediatric modes at the touch of a button.
Jeffery Faw, executive director of the Prisma Health Midlands Foundation, emphasized that the deployment is a critical measure to protect participants. The event serves as a major fundraiser for Prisma Health Breast Centers, having generated over $13 million since its inception. This year, organizers are directing proceeds toward a new mobile mammography van equipped with 3-D imaging technology to expand screening access across the Midlands region.
