Better Home & Finance Faces Securities Lawsuit Following Loan Miss

Investors have until November 20, 2026, to file as lead plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit against Better Home & Finance. The legal action follows a 28% single-day stock plunge on May 7, 2026, triggered by the company’s failure to meet ambitious loan volume targets and a sharp rise in net losses.

The litigation, spearheaded by the firm Hagens Berman, centers on statements made by former CEO Vishal Garg and CFO Loveen Advani during a March 13, 2026, earnings call. Executives claimed the company was on track to reach $1 billion in monthly loan volume by May 2026, asserting that Better Home could grow despite broader economic instability. However, the company’s subsequent Q1 2026 report revealed a starkly different reality.

By May, Better Home slashed its expectations, projecting a monthly volume of only $550 million—a 45% shortfall from previous guidance. The company also reported that net losses had surged 75% sequentially. Following these disclosures, the company parted ways with its CEO. Hagens Berman is now investigating whether management intentionally misled shareholders by withholding information about a slowing conversion funnel and the impact of macroeconomic pressures on the business. Investors who suffered losses between March 13 and May 7, 2026, are encouraged to contact the firm regarding the ongoing investigation.
