Vallar Pitches American Soil-Stabilization Tech to Kenyan Officials

Thousands of kilometers of unpaved rural roads across Africa disappear into mud during the rainy season, forcing trade and education to a halt. In Nairobi this week, U.S.-based Vallar Advanced Systems presented a chemical alternative to traditional asphalt, aiming to turn native soil into durable, all-weather surfaces.

Vallar’s technology bypasses the heavy equipment and high costs associated with conventional road building. By treating native earth with non-toxic, water-based chemicals, the company claims it can stabilize secondary routes that currently require constant, expensive regrading. For agricultural communities, these upgrades represent a vital link between farms and markets, ensuring transit remains reliable regardless of the weather.

During an American Chamber of Commerce event in Nairobi, CEO Jeremy Flynn showcased samples of stabilized gravel to government and civil society leaders. The firm, which manufactures its products entirely in the United States, positions the move as a strategic expansion of American commercial partnership in East Africa. Following meetings with the U.S. Embassy and local stakeholders, Vallar intends to pursue further negotiations with Kenyan authorities to address the continent’s persistent infrastructure gaps.
