The winning duo, Julio Elias and Evelin Mendez, managed a virtual beverage company named Lawa throughout the competition. By allocating 60% of their budget during the initial phase to build momentum, they successfully navigated shifting market conditions while prioritizing sustainability. This strategic focus allowed them to outperform international peers, while their colleagues from the United States and Colombia rounded out RedStone's three-team entry, with the U.S. group finishing sixth overall.
Duncan Hopewood, Vice President of Solutions Engineering, noted that the achievement validates the company's internal culture, where sustainability serves as a tangible competitive advantage rather than a peripheral goal. This recognition aligns with RedStone’s actual operations, as the firm has maintained its status as an EPA SmartWay Logistics Company Partner since 2023. For Mendez, the experience provided a practical lesson in agility, forcing the team to adapt their strategy in real time against global competitors.
