Todd Fountain, storm director for Duke Energy Florida, credited the company's recent strategic grid investments for the rapid response. According to Fountain, these upgrades have effectively limited the duration of outages and allowed for more efficient damage assessment following the storm. The utility mobilized resources from across the state to work around-the-clock, prioritizing critical infrastructure such as hospitals, fire departments, and water treatment facilities before moving to neighborhood-level repairs.
While crews finalize the work, the company continues to emphasize public safety. Residents are urged to treat all downed or sagging power lines as energized and to avoid standing water near utility equipment. Duke Energy remains a major utility provider in the region, serving 2 million customers across a 13,000-square-mile service area in Florida, with parent company Duke Energy overseeing operations for 8.7 million electric customers across six states.
