The deal signals a push for deeper technical synergy, as Midea looks to pair its own diagnostic portfolio—which includes DR, high-field MRI, and CT systems—with Esaote’s established footprint in ultrasound and dedicated MRI technology. Despite the change in ownership, Franco Fontana will remain at the helm of the Italian company, ensuring continuity as it pivots toward a more aggressive international growth strategy.
For Esaote, the acquisition provides a bridge to Midea’s extensive industrial network and capital resources, aimed at accelerating product development cycles. Midea, which reported $64.3 billion in global revenue for 2025, views the move as a cornerstone of its long-term commitment to the medical technology sector. With 1,160 employees and a strong focus on R&D, Esaote is expected to leverage this partnership to expand its presence across the more than 100 countries where it currently operates.
