The series follows a woman from a liberal East Coast Jewish family who, after being disinherited, relocates to Texas to live a lower-class life. The plot centers on her character’s attempts to organize an ambitious bat mitzvah for her granddaughter. Barr describes the tone as having a John Waters influence, noting that the project evolved from an earlier, scrapped concept about a rural Alabama farmer involved in the cannabis trade. To bring the show to life, Barr secured private funding for a full union production, moving forward without traditional network backing after failing to elicit a response from potential investors like Elon Musk.
The cast includes Randy Quaid as her husband, Drea de Matteo as her daughter, and Omar Gooding as her son-in-law, with guest appearances from Jon Lovitz and Tony Hinchcliffe. The role of the granddaughter is played by social media personality Indy Bugg, whom Barr cast following a recommendation from Mo’Nique. Production wrapped in late 2025, and while Barr has touted the show as revolutionary, a distribution platform and premiere date have not yet been announced. Regarding the show's political themes, Barr maintains that the satire will be directed at both sides of the aisle, positioning herself as an equal-opportunity targeter of those in power.
