The company’s commitment, outlined in its fifth Sustainability Plan, also mandates a 41.3% reduction in specific Scope 3 emissions, covering areas from purchased goods to end-of-life product treatment. This validation aligns Cascades with global climate standards established by organizations including the World Wildlife Fund and the United Nations Global Compact.
Progress is already visible within the firm’s operational footprint. Between 2019 and 2025, Cascades successfully lowered its Scopes 1 and 2 emissions by 32.6%. According to 2025 data from Fisher International, these efforts placed the company 25% below the North American paper industry average for emissions. To reach the 2035 goals, CEO Hugues Simon stated the company will prioritize energy efficiency, fleet electrification, and the expansion of renewable electricity sourcing to sustain its trajectory toward a lower-carbon economy.
