Previously, enabling an AI to complete a transaction required cobbling together multiple vendors for card vaults, digital wallets, and browser automation tools. This reliance on a disjointed tech stack often meant that if a purchase failed, pinpointing the source of the error was nearly impossible. Crossmint’s toolkit replaces these disparate systems by automatically selecting the most reliable checkout path for every transaction, whether through established protocols like Universal Commerce Protocol or browser-based automation.
Alfonso Gómez-Jordana Mañas, co-founder of Crossmint, noted that developers often underestimate the volatility of payment flows, where a checkout script functioning one day might break the next due to bot detection or API changes. By integrating Visa Intelligent Commerce and Mastercard Agent Pay credentials alongside PCI-compliant vaulting, the toolkit allows agents to handle purchases without exposing sensitive card data. Developers can now implement these capabilities by pointing AI coding tools like Cursor or Claude Code to the company's documentation, enabling live transactions to be integrated in a single afternoon.
