The engineering scope encompassed a comprehensive suite of technical requirements, including pipeline hydraulics, mechanical systems, and structural design. Beyond core infrastructure, the project integrates complex electrical and instrumentation controls, telecommunications, and safety protocols necessary for long-term pipeline integrity.
Stuart MacKenzie, President and CEO of Gas Liquids Engineering, noted that the project marks a significant progression for the province's carbon management sector. Having provided design services for carbon capture and sequestration initiatives in Alberta for years, the firm utilized this project to expand upon existing regional networks. With the blueprint phase finished, the focus now shifts entirely to the construction of the pipeline and associated facilities that connect to the sequestration site.
