The Yass Prize, often described as the Pulitzer of education innovation, honored Valor at the Power of Innovation Summit in Philadelphia. The organization was selected from thousands of applicants for its commitment to a tuition-free liberal arts model that emphasizes teacher formation and a culture centered on human dignity. Superintendent Stephen Gordon attributed the network's success to its faculty, noting that the prize validates a mission focused on academic rigor and personal development.
Valor plans to deploy the funding to accelerate construction at its current Austin-area campuses and launch a major expansion into the Dallas-Ft. Worth region. Led by Executive Vice President Jesse Bates, this growth phase aims to establish five additional campuses capable of serving another 5,000 students in North Texas. Beyond its K-12 charter operations, the network intends to expand the Valor Institute for Studies in Person and Community to Irving, Texas, in partnership with the University of Dallas. CEO David Williams stated that the award confirms the organization's entrepreneurial approach, opening doors to scale both its charter schools and potential private school models under Texas Education Freedom Accounts.
