Elfyn Evans Clinches 2026 WRC Title in Sardinia Finale

Elfyn Evans Clinches 2026 WRC Title in Sardinia Finale

Narrow, winding roads and unpredictable Mediterranean weather provided the ultimate test for the 2026 World Rally Championship finale in Sardinia. As the gravel settled around Alghero on October 4, Toyota Gazoo Racing celebrated a sweep of the season’s top honors, with Elfyn Evans securing his first career Drivers' Championship.

The Rally Italia Sardegna pushed drivers through 17 special stages spanning 307.02 kilometers of grueling terrain. Competitors navigated iconic sections like Micky’s Jump, while deep ruts and sharp, exposed rocks tested the limits of the Dynapro R213 tires supplied by Hankook. The manufacturer remained the exclusive tire partner throughout the 2026 season, managing conditions that shifted from snow and ice to rugged gravel.

Oliver Solberg claimed victory at the event, marking his third win of the year and his second in a row. Despite Solberg’s strong finish, Elfyn Evans secured the championship by taking fifth place, ending the season with 243 points. This result allowed Evans to edge out Solberg by a five-point margin. With Toyota having locked in the Manufacturers' title earlier in Chile, the Sardinia event solidified a dominant campaign for the team, providing Hankook with extensive data to refine its high-performance tire technology for future production.
