The upcoming season, running from October 2028 through March 2029, offers a tiered approach to the Drake Passage. Travelers can choose between the signature nine-night Fly & Sail expeditions, high-speed seven-night Drake Express voyages, or traditional maritime crossings. Beyond the peninsula, the schedule includes 12-night journeys crossing the Antarctic Circle and an 18-night Grand Antarctica expedition departing Jan. 7, 2029, which encompasses South Georgia and the Falkland Islands.
James A. Rodriguez, president and CEO of Atlas Ocean Voyages, noted that the expansion aims to preserve the brand’s focus on intimate, expert-led discovery. The season also marks a centennial milestone, with a Nov. 16, 2028, departure commemorating the first powered flight over Antarctica conducted by Sir Hubert Wilkins and Carl Ben Eielson exactly one century prior.
Operational logistics remain flexible, with expedition teams adjusting daily itineraries based on sea ice and wildlife patterns. Each voyage is supported by a team of up to 17 experts specializing in geology and polar biology. To incentivize early bookings, the company is offering a 10% bonus savings package for reservations made before Dec. 31, 2026, allowing passengers to lock in current fares before a scheduled price adjustment in early 2027.
