The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) issued a formal call for journalists to demand entry to Gaza, emphasizing that ignoring the suffering of Palestinian civilians creates a distorted, one-sided narrative. The group specifically urged reporters to investigate the release of 1,700 Palestinians freed from Israeli detention, many of whom have alleged systemic torture while held without charge in facilities overseen by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and the Foreign Press Association in Jerusalem have joined these calls, demanding an end to the long-standing restrictions that have effectively barred international media from documenting the war's aftermath. RSF’s Jonathan Dagher highlighted the catastrophic toll on local journalists, noting that at least 271 have been killed during the conflict, including Saleh al-Jafarawi, who was slain on Sunday while wearing press identification. With the International Criminal Court currently reviewing five complaints regarding war crimes against members of the press, advocates maintain that independent verification is a moral imperative to prevent further impunity.
