Vitamin Angels Debuts Evidence-Based Model for Global Nutrition Programs

At the 2026 Micronutrient Forum in Accra, Vitamin Angels presented new implementation research aimed at shifting maternal and child nutrition from periodic campaigns to sustainable, government-led health systems. The findings highlight how localized data can bridge the gap between proven nutritional interventions and real-world delivery across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The organization’s latest research emphasizes that while multiple micronutrient supplementation (MMS) is scientifically validated, its success hinges on robust primary health care infrastructure. In Indonesia, the group utilized digital tools like WhatsApp to boost program adherence, informing a national strategy launched in 2024. Similar efforts in Makueni County, Kenya, revealed a significant disparity between access and completion: while 93% of pregnant women received iron and folic acid supplements, only 17% finished the recommended 180-day regimen. This data directly spurred the launch of Kenya’s first county-wide MMS program.

Beyond maternal health, Vitamin Angels is addressing the integration of vitamin A and deworming services into routine care. A landscape analysis in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where the group reached 13 million children in 2025, suggests that supply chain coordination and community engagement are vital to moving beyond sporadic campaign-style delivery. The organization is now scaling its 'Climate-Inspired Nutrition Through Action' (CINTA) initiative in Indonesia, aiming to reach 12 million people by integrating nutrition into climate-resilient health frameworks. These initiatives form the core of the 'Vitamin Angels 2030' strategy, which seeks to provide nutrition solutions to 477 million beneficiaries across 57 countries.
