Jonathan Rivnay, representing Northwestern University, received the honor for his pioneering research into soft, flexible bioelectronics capable of integrating with human tissue to create implantable treatment systems.
Since its inception in 2007, the Blavatnik Awards have distributed $21.5 million to 539 scientists, providing critical unrestricted funding that allows recipients to pursue high-risk research. The program, administered by The New York Academy of Sciences, has become a significant incubator for scientific talent; past honorees have gone on to secure prestigious academic chairs and election to national academies, while collectively launching companies valued at over $40 billion.
