NX Group and JAL Launch Dedicated Freighter Route for Tech Logistics

A new strategic partnership between Nippon Express Holdings and Japan Airlines has introduced a dedicated Boeing 747 freighter service, connecting North America with key Asian hubs. Launched on October 3, 2026, the circuit aims to stabilize supply chains for the booming semiconductor and artificial intelligence sectors.

The service operates a weekly round-trip route originating in Los Angeles, stopping in Narita, Taipei, and Singapore before returning to the U.S. By utilizing a 747 freighter with a 100-ton payload capacity, the companies intend to address a critical shortage of large-freighter options within Asia. The route is specifically designed to accommodate oversized equipment, including server racks and data center infrastructure, which have seen a surge in demand due to global investments in generative AI.

Satoshi Otsuji of NX Group noted that the collaboration enhances their ability to provide flexible transport solutions for increasingly sophisticated cargo needs. For Japan Airlines, the partnership marks the first time their large freighter services have reached the U.S. West Coast, augmenting their existing passenger and cargo networks. Both firms plan to evaluate further expansion of this logistics circuit to support growing trans-Pacific trade requirements.
