The appointment coincides with a significant technology push across the retailer’s TU clothing division. Sainsbury’s is currently deploying radio frequency identification (RFID) technology across approximately 400 stores, with the project slated for completion by September. The initiative follows a successful pilot program earlier this year designed to enhance stock visibility and streamline replenishment processes.
Gillian Ekin, Head of Transformation and Operational Development at Sainsbury’s, credited the progress to internal collaboration, noting the intensive effort required to scale the deployment. While the retailer has not yet disclosed specific details regarding the supplier ecosystem supporting this rollout, the move underscores a broader industry focus on optimizing inventory management through digital infrastructure.
