Ether.fi Integrates MoonPay Infrastructure to Streamline Self-Custodial Banking

Ether.fi is overhauling its payment architecture by deploying MoonPay’s full suite of financial tools, aiming to bridge the gap between complex blockchain self-custody and the simplicity of mainstream neobanking. The partnership allows users to fund, trade, and spend digital assets without navigating fragmented vendor integrations or third-party redirects.

Most neobanks rely on a patchwork of separate providers, creating redundant identity checks and clunky user experiences. By consolidating headless ramps, cross-chain trading, and virtual accounts into a single stack, ether.fi intends to offer a seamless interface where keys remain with the user. This shift targets a broader demographic, moving away from speculative crypto trading toward daily utility like groceries and rent payments.

Ether.fi’s card activity highlights this trend toward practical spending. According to Paymentscan, users processed $123.7 million in September 2026, a fivefold increase from the previous year. While bitcoin’s price fluctuated significantly over that period, ether.fi’s transaction volume remained resilient, growing even when the broader crypto market dipped. Because the product functions as a self-custodial wallet, the company avoids the heavy regulatory burden of traditional banking licensing, allowing for faster expansion across global markets.

Integrated Financial Services

MoonPay’s infrastructure will roll out in phases, replacing disparate systems with unified tools. The Headless Ramps feature enables one-tap funding, while MoonPay Trade automates cross-chain conversions, removing the need for users to manage underlying network complexities. Additionally, the integration of MoonPay Enterprise provides users with virtual account numbers, enabling direct deposits via traditional rails like ACH, SWIFT, and SEPA. This consolidation means a single identity verification covers the entire suite of services, transforming the app from a niche crypto tool into a primary financial home.
